Of Trees and Forests
Halfway between science and discovery, this documentary series explores a different forest from around the world in each episode, revealing the hidden connections it maintains with the rest of life. Our story unfolds around a remarkable tree, sometimes a participant, sometimes a backdrop to the biodiversity it shelters. But it is only the tree that hides the forest, for it is the forest as a whole that interests us. In the daily lives of the men and women who live in close proximity to it — scientists, researchers, photographers, foresters, and even Indigenous peoples — we are fully immersed in the plant and animal world to better understand the ecosystem services it provides. This series overturns our perspective on the forest. We no longer perceive it as an abstract mass, but as a powerful superorganism within which a multitude of species interact. The tree that hides the forest reveals how all living things are interconnected and the urgent need to protect our forests. Destinations: Canada, Australia, France, Finland, Madagascar, French Guiana.
