Great Wild North is a documentary series that takes viewers off the grid and into a unique subculture of modern day bushmen and women who live deep in the wilds of Alaska and the Yukon to work one of the toughest jobs on the planet. Hunters themselves will tell about their lifestyle among the snow-covered forests and mountains, what dangers await them every minute and why they chose for themselves such a fate.

This rugged community of “bush people” battle wolves, thin ice, food shortages and mechanical breakdowns, all while racing to make a year’s worth of money in one short hunting season. In the dead of winter — when weather is at its worst — they struggle against unforgiving nature, deadly predators and elusive prey to survive off the land.

Life hangs in the balance, and failure is not an option. But this courageous group is more than up for the challenge. Like our earliest pioneers, they survive and thrive in one of the most hostile and dangerous places on Earth.
