Every autumn, over 1,000 starving polar bears travel directly through the northern town of Churchill, Manitoba to reach their hunting grounds on Hudson Bay. This series follows the migration of the world’s biggest land predator, the tourists who come to witness the spectacle — and the resulting conflicts it brings with the town’s inhabitants.

There are few things more intimidating than a hungry, Volvo-sized, 1,500 pound polar bear. These migrating bears are seriously hungry by the time they reach Churchill, because they’ve spent the summer months living largely off their fat reserves.

So while the local tour operators may love and admire them, they don’t fool themselves about the dangers posed by the world’s largest terrestrial carnivore. They have to keep the hordes of tourists safe while at the same time trying to guarantee them an up close and personal glimpse of a Polar bear.

Set against a backdrop of some of the world’s most amazing landscapes, each episode features a different phase of the Polar bears’ migration. An experienced team of producers working with a team of talented cinematographers, using everything from drones to DSLR’s and Go-Pros, bring unprecedented access to the Polar bear stories and dramas over two extraordinary months in the wild terrain around Churchill.
