The resounding success of The Da Vinci Code and the scandalous fame of Mel Gibson’s film The Passion of the Christ rekindled interest in biblical history and proved once again that various — sometimes contradictory — interpretations are possible. A well-known Canadian documentary filmmaker and journalist Simcha Jacobovici presents his very non-trivial view of the Old and New Testament in the author’s series. He has many prestigious awards to his credit, including two Emmy awards. In this archaeological study, he decided to try on the role of Indiana Jones. Traveling through preserved biblical sites in Israel, Egypt and Greece is like a breathtaking adventure. The intensity of passions is fueled by rather unexpected hypotheses based on the found archaeological artifacts. Jacobovici in his series pursues one goal: to remove the plaque of myth from the Bible as such, and archeology in particular.
