The mysterious theft of human organs, the strange death of pets, all sorts of evil spirits in sewage communications, mysterious corpses under hotel beds — this is a far from complete list of story plots that modern folklorists call “urban legends”. They have been passed from mouth to mouth for many generations and excite the imagination of people of different classes. But do these seemingly dubious stories have real grounds for them?

The creators of the series “Mostly True Stories ” together with the host of the program — actress Natasha Henstridge — are trying to find the answer to this difficult question. In each episode the reliability of three or four legends is examined. Restoring the mysterious events, the authors accompany them with archival materials, press responses, TV reports, and interviews with experts from various fields — from psychologists to forensic experts. The themes of the plots are very different — sexual scandals, crimes, revenge, practical jokes, foreign travel, strange behavior of animals. But they have one thing in common — they end in tragedy. Subconscious fear makes people believe in something that is on the verge of truth and fiction.
